The Departments of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences and of Physical Education and Sports Science of the School of Physical Education, Sports Science and Dietetics of the University of Thessaly operate an Interdepartmental Postgraduate Studies Program entitled: "Exercise, Ergospirometry and Rehabilitation".
Department of Physical Education & Sports Science
The Department admitted its first students in 1994. Its facilities are located on an area of 150 acres in Karyes, Trikala. The total area of the facilities is 3000m2, which includes laboratories, a library, classrooms, a conference room, a computer room, etc. An indoor gym, an amphitheater and 1000m2 classrooms have been planned or are being implemented.
Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine was founded in 1985 and first admitted students in the academic year 1990-1991. It is the first Department in the development of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly, it has been autonomous since 1995 and operates in Larissa. The Department admits about 100 students annually and the total number of active students is 834 (with the registrations of the academic year 2023-2024). The Department's graduates are 1696 (until the swearing-in on 6.11.2023). The number of active doctoral candidates is 432 and the total number of sworn-in doctoral candidates to date is 716.
