A FEW WORDS ABOUT IT our postgraduate
The program aims to provide high-level postgraduate education by utilizing the knowledge and experience of faculty members of the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, as well as faculty members from other Medical Departments at home and abroad, with proven expertise in colorectal surgery.
Object – Purpose
The Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly operates the Postgraduate Program "Colorectal Surgery", which leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma. The program aims to provide high-level postgraduate education by utilizing the knowledge and experience of the faculty members of the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, as well as faculty members from other Medical Departments in Greece and abroad, with proven expertise in colorectal and anal surgery.
The purpose of the postgraduate course "Colorectal Surgery" is:
- the training and specialization of new doctors in a broad, cutting-edge field of modern surgery, such as colorectal and anal surgery
- the in-depth, thorough and based on the most up-to-date bibliographic data education of the new scientific potential
- the provision of the necessary supplies that will lead to the production of new knowledge by the trainees
- the creation of scientists with the required skills for successful careers in the private, public and academic sectors
- preparation for postgraduate studies at doctoral level

Categories of candidates
Graduates from Departments of Medicine, Schools of Health Sciences of domestic Universities or recognized equivalent institutions abroad are admitted to the Postgraduate Program.
Holders of a foreign university degree must provide the recognition of their degree by DOATAP.
Duration – Conditions for obtaining a Diploma
The minimum duration for the award of the IMS is set at three (3) academic semesters.
1st (Winter) semester: Theoretical training
2nd (Spring) semester: Theoretical training
3rd (Winter) semester: Internship and Thesis
Successful completion of the program includes the attendance and examination of 15 (fifteen) mandatory courses, as well as the preparation and presentation of the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis.
