In this course, students will be taught topics related to the effect of food on the structure and function of the nervous system, the ketogenic diet, the role of nutrition in multiple sclerosis, stroke, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. Enteral nutrition in the treatment of patients with ARDS and its effects on the course of the disease and survival. Dietary factors in the prevention and treatment of asthma and the role of nutrition in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Diet in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. The role of Sodium, Potassium and nutritional supplements in patients with heart failure and hypertension. The role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Diet in nephrotic syndrome and hemodialysis patients. Metabolic and gastrointestinal diseases that predispose to the occurrence of urolithiasis and finally the role of nutrition in the occurrence of cancer of the genitourinary system.
