This course will teach the criteria and definition of obesity, morbid obesity, preschool obesity, childhood obesity and metabolic syndrome. The epidemiological characteristics, genetic basis and hormonal mechanisms of obesity. Obesity and life expectancy, obesity paradox, obesity and quality of life.
The relationship between obesity, anxiety, depression and Alzheimer's disease. Obesity as a risk factor for cancer. The role of obesity and nutrition in inflammatory diseases. Obesity in diabetes, in the occurrence of oral cavity diseases and ophthalmological diseases. The effects of obesity on lung function, hypoventilation syndrome (Pickwick) and sleep apnea.
The effects of obesity on the normal function of the vessels, coronary heart disease, hypertension, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death. The effects of obesity on kidney function, nephrological and urological diseases. The problem of obesity in psychotic patients and the role of antipsychotic drugs.
