Inductees in the Postgraduate Program – Selection Procedures – Free attendance

The evaluation of the candidates, who have submitted all the required supporting documents within the stipulated deadlines, is carried out by the Selection Committee (SC) in two phases:
Phase A: Verification of supporting documents of all candidates.
Phase B: The criteria are scored on a scale from 0 to 100 and each candidate is credited with a specific number of points.
The CC, in cooperation with the Selection Committee (EC) of the candidates, evaluates and selects the candidates after a meeting based on the criteria:
– General grade of degree (s) x 1 (up to 20 points)
– Recognized professional experience related to the use of ultrasound which is evidenced by certificates or attestations of (Public) Insurance
Institution x 1 (up to 20 points)
– Knowledge of English (up to 15 when accompanied by a professional degree). The proficiency of the foreign language will be evidenced by a similar degree, certificates or examinations to be defined by the CC
– Scientific relevance (dealing with cardiovascular diseases) to the subject of the program (up to 25 points)
– Additional academic qualifications e.g. publications in international journals, other postgraduate degrees, doctoral thesis (up to 20 points)

- Selection procedure
The number of admissions is set at a maximum of thirty (30) students per year.
In the event that two or more candidates collect the same number of points in total, all tie-breakers are accepted.
In addition, one (1) member serving in the Vascular Surgery Clinic of the University of Thessaly will be accepted per year without the obligation to pay tuition fees. For their selection, the same criteria as stated in the Internal Reulation will apply.
The SC, after receiving the list of candidates from the Secretariat, checks the submitted supporting documents and prepares the final list of candidates. The total score can reach 100 points.
Based on the total score collected by each candidate, the SC draws up an evaluation table of the candidates. The evaluation table includes, in order of success, all the candidates and the successful candidates are displayed. Up to 1/3 of the total number of students will be occupied by junior doctors or junior health scientists based on the score they will collect. These tables are then transmitted to the SC for review and approval. In the event that two or more candidates collect the same number of points in total, all tie-breakers are accepted. Successful candidates are invited to respond in writing within five (5) days if they accept or not their inclusion in the Postgraduate Program, accepting its terms of operation. Failure to respond by a selected candidate within the above deadline shall be tantamount to a refusal to accept. In case of refusals, the Secretariat informs the next candidate in the evaluation list from the relevant table of success. An objection against the success tables may be made within five (5) days from the date of announcement of the tables. The objection, which must be specific, is finally judged by the SC.
- Attendance fees
The Postgraduate Program is self-financed and its main source of funding will
be the attendance fees of postgraduate students amounting to €5,000
(1st Semester: 2,000 euros, 2nd Semester: 2,000 euros, 3rd Semester: 1,000 euros) per graduate student for the whole of each course of study or will also be funded by sponsorships, donations, research programs, etc.
The procedure for the payment of tuition fees for the MSc is carried out through the Special Account for Research Grants of the University of Thessaly.
The supporting documents that candidates should submit are:
- Application for Participation (on the MSc website)
- Detailed curriculum vitae (according to the template you will find on the MSc website)
- A copy of the degree or confirmation that the candidate has fulfilled his/her educational obligations. In case of foreign university graduates, the recognition of the institution’s title is based on the provisions of art. 304, par. 4 and 5 and art. 307 of Law 4957/21-7-2022.
- Copy of Transcript of Records
- Scientific publications, distinctions, and evidence of research activity (if any)
- Evidence of relevant professional experience (if any)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Two-sided photocopy of the identity card
- Proof of knowledge of foreign languages officially translated
- One ID-type photo
