The uninsured Undergraduate and postgraduate students and doctoral candidates are entitled, according to the circular of the Ministry of Education, to full medical and hospital care in the National Health System (NHS) with coverage of the relevant expenses by the National Health Services Organization (EOPYY).
Students now address the Public Health Structures with their AMKA, as the University, starting from the 2017-2018 academic year, cannot issue health booklets to uninsured students.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is a free card that offers access to state medical care under the same conditions and at the same cost (in some countries, free of charge) as insured persons of that country.

The EKAA does not replace travel insurance, nor does it cover private healthcare.

The publication of the EKAA for the uninsured University of Thrace students who travel for educational purposes to one of the 28 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, is carried out by the Student Affairs Directorate and any expenses that may arise are covered by the University.

For the granting of the E.K.A.A. the following supporting documents are required:

In order to issue the EKAA, the fact that the student is not covered by another insurance body will be checked from the data in the Register of Uninsured Citizens kept at IDIKA SA.
